Remembering Carlos Gonzalez

At Taylor Hodson we mourn the loss of our friend and colleague, our CFO, Carlos Gonzalez, who died on November 10th after a 4-and-a-half-year battle with colon cancer. We celebrated Carlos’s 20-year anniversary with Carlos at Taylor Hodson on October 28th.

Carlos walked into my office at Taylor Hodson on Halloween, 20 years ago, and was hired on the spot.  From his journey with our firm from payroll assistant to CFO and trusted confidant, he was the most loyal, dedicated, committed, discreet, hardworking, best dressed, and wickedly funny individual anyone could ever hope to know.  The expertise, guidance and friendship Carlos provided to our company, to every employee, and to me personally has been invaluable.

As an indispensable right hand whom I counted on and trusted completely, Carlos shouldered responsibility for the wellbeing of all at Taylor Hodson 100% through smooth sailing and crises. In a 20-year period of our time with Carlos, we have gone through many historic milestones, one of the most significant being the legalization of gay marriage in 2015 and Carlos’s marriage to his longtime partner, Jeffrey Richards.

One of Carlos’s favorite responsibilities at TayHo, was planning our annual Holiday Party, which he started to do every year in January!  His whimsical themes and handmade decorations always surprised and delighted us, giving us something to look forward to year after year, and then to laugh and reminisce about all year long.

I love Carlos and am devastated by the loss of this great and generous spirit and true friend.  He will always have a place of honor at Taylor Hodson, and I will be grateful forever for his impeccable work ethic, loyalty to our firm, and his profound support and friendship to me personally.

If it’s true that ‘A death among men is but a wedding feast among the Angels’, then Carlos is celebrating now.

With profound respect and gratitude, Carlos, we wish you a Magnificent Journey.

With Love, Minerva and the Taylor Hodson Team (now and throughout the past 20 years!)
